We aim to empower Stripe developers to reach their full potential, making it seamless for them to access and manage financial system capabilities with minimal regulatory hurdles. Our work supports developers throughout their careers, from onboarding to building new systems and products.
As a Technical Program Manager within Infrastructure, you will lead programs that involve multiple Stripe engineering organizations, focusing on enhancing the internal platforms that underpin all our products. Collaborating with engineering and product management leaders, you will be responsible for planning, communication, and steering the execution of large-scale technical programs designed to solve complex challenges and empower product engineering teams across Stripe. Your role will involve delivering impactful solutions that scale company-wide, minimize disruption to product teams, and align with broader engineering initiatives. You will work closely with the Service Infrastructure team, which provides the frameworks, async platforms, and tooling necessary for building, shipping, and operating efficient, reliable, and performant products at Stripe. This team also drives company-wide refactoring and architectural improvements to ensure scalability and adaptability.
- Collaborate with cross-organizational teams to identify infrastructure pain points and develop cross-domain solutions.
- Define and produce high-quality written proposals, communications, and documentation.
- Contribute to defining the frameworks, async platforms, and tooling used for developing and operating all Stripe products.
- Partner with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Engineers, and other Technical Program Managers to define, scope, and drive large migration programs to completion.
- Play a key role in shaping technical design, anticipating technical roadblocks through collaboration with engineers, and identifying trade-offs.
- Develop, implement, and iterate on program management techniques, frameworks, and KPIs to achieve goals with well-defined success criteria.
- Enhance the execution capabilities of surrounding engineering teams, providing training and guidance where necessary.
- Influence peers and stakeholders, build consensus, and navigate ambiguity effectively.
- Leverage data and acquired knowledge to drive strategic decisions at the engineering leadership level.
- Create widely circulated plans to drive consistency, clarity, and alignment across teams.
- Operationalize and execute critical cross-functional programs spanning Stripe engineering organizations.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or technical program management.
- Experience with developer products or open-source projects.
- Proficiency in distributed systems, software libraries and frameworks, and service-oriented architectures.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to digest complex information, distill insights, and formulate recommendations.
- Proven track record of managing software development lifecycles from kickoff to launch, demonstrating critical thinking, challenging norms, and thought leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, teams, and senior leaders.
- Experience driving internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions, bringing a wealth of experience, opinions, proposals, and best practices.
- Ability to operate autonomously and rapidly, leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions with cross-disciplinary stakeholders across different time zones.
